Ha! I first heard of him through Deviant Art. Such a small world! And, Wow! What a cool drawing. You really captured the hyper-curvaceous of Cheek's line work.
Your inking is great too! I know I have to work on line weight as well since I've been spoiled by Adobe Illustrator too much.
Hey, Robin! I recently had an idea: It would be so totally AWESOME if you could do DVD lessons on drawing and animating, something like that Brian LeMay guy (only BETTER). Might sound like a bit much though, right? I was also wondering about how in addition to posting completely original drawings you've also been posting drawings of Spider Man and other stuff that's been done before. Aren't you worried that you'll eventually get sued for plagiarizm or get in SOME kind of trouble for this stuff?
Hey thank everyone for the kind words! Hey Frank, I totally want to go check out your joint but I am just so busy as of late. But I will have to make time in the coming months to pay your studio a visit. Thanks bro!!
Hey Peter, I plan on doing something along those dvd videos lines but i havent figured out just yet what i am exactly going to do. I still havent gotten around to checking out the issue with the character desing interview but i will.. Brian Lemay has a video out??? Thats hilarious!! He used to be my old teacher at sheridan. I am surprised you know of him. Small world i guess!!
Funny you should mention, because earlier I looked around on Character Design and it's not just YOUR interview, but ALL of the interviews there! Something about "robot" programs maybe taking things a bit too literally however you want to put it, which I think they're beginning to fix. Well yeah! There's three of them so far. "Drawing Cartoon Characters for Animation", which is a supplement to the second book in his "Drawing Cartoon Characters" book series, "Intro to Lip Sync Part One: Meow", and "Intro to Lip Sync Part Two: Absolutely Incredible". So far I've gotten the "Drawing Cartoon Characters" DVD and I can tell that he really knows what he's doing, and I learn a lot from him. I saw these DVDs online on cartoonsupplies.com. He also has a website. It's interesting to read about some of the drawing fun he had with his colleagues in response to working on that Star Wars "Ewoks" cartoon. In this drawing class I've begun going to I am prettymuch the ONLY person who asked if there would be any homework. The instructor told me to just to LOTS of drawings of negative space. Maybe I could do negative space versions of some of the drawings you've done--especially from that comic of yours--and post them on my blog while giving YOU all of the ACTUAL credit. You do the EXACT sort of drawings I'm interested in doing. PS: You seemed to have kind of forgotten about my question concerning bloggin plagiarizm and the like.
BTW, I hope I didn't sound rude earlier, asking that question about blogging drawings that feature content that's already been done before. It's just that it seems like i still have some things to learn about blogging, and I want to make sure I know what to do and what not to do.
hey peter, yeah, i believe they are revamping the whole character desing site... oh well sit tight and keep checking in!!
i think lemay has run out of carrer anecdotes!!hehehe!!! because i heard those ages ago!!!hehehe! glad u are getting some good learning from his dvd.
as for plagirism... this really isn't a concern for them at all. They only care that i dont make money on it.. and when it's is for "scholastic review" they cant touch me. plus i dont put this work in my books either...just to be safe. but even then they dont really bother u!!
yes plese feel free to draw my drawing in negative or positive space!!heheheh cheers, robin
I sure could use a post to my blog...Your stuff is great, I just wanted to tag on to some great talent. I already have you linked. Keep the great work coming.
